TIME Systems and Leidos Awarded Nunn-Perry

Northern VA, Apr. 2019 – TIME Systems, LLC, along with Leidos, is proud to receive the prestigious Nunn-Perry Award from the Department of Defense for excellence in a DoD Mentor-Protégé relationship. Each year around 30 companies compete for the Nunn-Perry. To win, companies must demonstrate growth in a variety of areas, including business infrastructure development, technical development, and program management.

The DoD Mentor-Protégé Program assists small businesses in successful competition by partnering them with large companies, with the intent of technology and capability transfer from the large business to the small. Since the commencement of the relationship in 2016, Leidos has helped TIME Systems to grow approximately 30%.

The Nunn-Perry award, named in honor of former Senator Sam Nunn and former Secretary of Defense William Perry, is presented each year to DoD mentor-protégé teams that have demonstrated exceptional progress in improving the small business’s technical capabilities, cost effectiveness, and business opportunities to expand their footprint in the defense industrial base.

CEO Lonnie Bellamy attended the DoD Mentor-Protégé Conference in 2011, where he met the late Tracey Pinson, then Director for the DoD Office of Small Business Programs. “I was so impressed with her passion and commitment to small businesses as an asset to the Industrial Base that I knew we had to enter the program,” says Mr. Bellamy of this meeting (pictured above). “We always strive for excellence, and this is no exception. Our mission is to dominate in our space, and we can’t do that if we don’t take full advantage of the opportunities we’re given. So I decided right then that we would excel in the program, we would apply for the Nunn-Perry, and we would win it.” TIME entered the DoD Mentor-Protégé program in 2015 with Lockheed Martin. After a year, the contract and relationship was transferred to Leidos.
